Tamil Nadu MBBS Management Quota Counselling Procedure:

The State Selection Committee conducts the Tamil Nadu MBBS management quota counseling under the Directorate of Medical Education. The process includes online registration, document verification, and seat allotment. Candidates must meet the eligibility criteria and submit the required documents to participate in the management quota counseling.

Counselling Registration:

Seat Allotment:

  • Seats are allotted based on NEET score and state rank

  • Government Quota in Government College: Rs 18,073/Year
  • Government Quota in Private College: Rs 4.5 Lakhs/Year

Eligibility for Participation in the Tamil Nadu State Medical Counselling Process:

· Candidates must be at least 17 years old by December 31st of the applicable year.

· Indian citizens are eligible for both Management Quota and NRI Quota seats in private medical colleges.

· Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) are also eligible but will be considered under the Open category, as they cannot claim any reservation.

· Non-resident Indians (NRIs) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) can apply for admission to self-financing medical colleges.

Other Requirements

· To be eligible for Counselling, candidates must have secured the required percentile in the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) during the academic year — 50th percentile for the general category, 40% for OBC/SC/ST, and 45% for Persons with Disabilities.

· Candidates claiming Linguistic or Religious Minority seats (Malayalam or Telugu) must provide a study certificate from the last institution attended or a certificate from the revenue authority.

· Candidates currently pursuing an MBBS course in India or abroad are not eligible to apply for counselling again. However, BDS students are allowed to apply for MBBS.

Claiming Nativity and Domicile:
· Candidates must be native to Tamil Nadu to be eligible for government quota seats in government and private medical colleges.

· Those who studied from grades 6 to 12 in Tamil Nadu schools and belong to the state need not submit a nativity certificate but must provide their parent’s birth certificate, ration card, and educational certificates.

· A ‘No Graduation Certificate’ from the revenue authority is required if the parent is not literate.

· Candidates from other states who have studied in Tamil Nadu from grades 6 to 12 will be considered under the Open category.

Candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu but studying outside the state must provide their parents’ birth certificates, ration cards, educational certificates, and community certificates.

· The ‘No Graduation Certificate’ from the revenue authority is needed for illiterate parents.

·Nativity does not apply for Management Quota and NRI Quota seats.
